I feel a Dame Joan moment coming....HighCcccccccccccccccccccccccccccccaaaaaaaaaa-breath- iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeefcuk.
Mother Medusa told a friend of ours that my sister and I ought to be shot for the muck we're dishing up for her to eat.
The freezer currently holds (most cooked by me)
1. Roast chicken, gravy, mashed potatoes and peas.
2. Meatballs with red wine sauce, mashed potatoes and peas.
3. Sausages, organic, gluten free, no preservatives with brown onion gravy, mashed potatoes and peas.
4. Crumbed fish.
5. Crumbed chicken.
6. Gourmet steak pies made with flakey puff paste.
I go to a specialist butcher for the sausages. I walk, catch a bus, don't drive a car remember and my sister serves it up after getting home after an eight hour shift at the hospital.
There's a lot of mash and peas but she won't eat vegetables at all if it's not these.
I buy small fruit containers, dairy desserts, and today, four small Creme Caramels.
Guess who's getting meals on wheels next week!!!

"Meatballs with red wine sauce, mashed potatoes and peas..."
Mmmmm...you can come round and cook for me any day of the week, Witchy. Easy on the meatballs, the mashed potatoes and the peas, though...and add a bit of whiskey to that red wine, and that'd be just how I like it.
How about I just make the meatballs small enough to shove in the bottle?
Sounds good...thoroughly marinated.
YES YES YES!
A couple of weeks on meals on wheels would
[a] give you a break
[b] demonstrate how absolutely lucky the old bag is to have you cook like that.
MoW is well-meaning, but awful. My old friend has it five days a week, and *hates* it.
I say go nuts. And get a respite nurse at the same time.
"Thoroughly marinated", just like your good self Lord Hughes.
I already know what she's going to do, Duckie. She'll eat the sweets and junk the rest but it will (hopefully) bring home just how much we do for her. On the other hand, she's just as likey to be on the phone telling the Bouvier sisters how we've deserted her.
I wanted to do volunteer work for Meals on Wheels once, but they didn't want me, so I took the job with Coles instead. Either way I'm providing (old) people with meals...
The Spouse used to work for a Melb council-run MoW and we could tell you some hair-raising tales of horror about the food!
She's complaining to keep her mind occupied on trivial things because otherwise she'd have to face ugly reality about how she can't look after herself anymore.
Get her Meals on wheels and bugger her dramatics. Just do it. Its ridiculuous the hooplas she puts you all through... she will survive and you will feel a lot better so will your sister...go for it jahteh...
River, Coles had lovely choc eggs this year, that's all of my favourite food groups.
Jayne, the meals come from the Kingston Centre Kitchens and while they sound delicious, they're very bland. Her mind hasn't progressed past the bitterness of getting cancer to the next stage but that's because the brain isn't capable of processing the next stage. It's like a record stuck in a groove.
Therese, for the past two days I've done nothing except agree with everything she says even the most crazy talk. Today her voice was weak in the morning and this afternoon then at 5 changed completely to officious.
omg will you adopt me?
..probably not. Get the meals on wheels and give yourself a break.
Aren't our oldies adorable?
