You can see them in Rundle Mall at the junction of Stephens Place. The sculptor was Marguerite Derricourt.
They were commissioned by the Adelaide City Council and unveiled by Former Lord Mayor (Dr. Jane Lomax-Smith) on 3 July, 1999.

Truffles is the standing pig behind Horatio, Oliver at the bin and missing is Augusta, the trotting pig.

ReplyDeleteI love those pigs, but I'd forgotten their names. Even forgot they HAD names. I took pictures of them myself a while ago when I was out and about taking photos of Adelaide to send to a friend blogger in Tasmania. When i first heard there were going to be bronze pigs in the mall I thought they'd be horrible, but when I finally saw them I loved them immrdiately.

I don't know who did the artwork or what it signifies, I just liked it enough to photograph and send to friends.

Jayne is right with Therese about Parliament. I think the sculpture is called 'Pigs in Space' or that might have just been my imagination. At least they're recognisable not like some of the modern rubbish Jeff K put up.
