Lord Rochester plays.

Rochester, nothing but the best for you and your musical digits.  I think a bit of Rachmaninoff for my birthday instead of the usual tarty honky-tonk.
I hope that's Black Forest Cake under that chocolate ganache and not mud cake. I'm not fond of mud cake, boozed up black cherries and cream with chocolate sponge get a blue ribbon from me.

I don't think Black Forest would be under there, traditionally that has a cream filling with the boozy cherries....I suppose if the ganache was very carefully applied it could work. I love the piano.
And Happy Birthday for whichever day it is/was.

It looks like a fruit cake to me. So you will have to have another one to claim your Black Forest Gateaux.
It also looks incredible.
Thank you for the journey of the cakes...

Piano Concerto 3 this evening, just for you -acccompanied by Miss Beryl Dann, poetess and mallee root painter (violin) and her pychiatrist Dr Grant Lester (trombone). Hoping that's enough for you. Later we'll be playing something for mother.

River, I did see a German pastry chef do ganache over a 5 layer Black Forest cake on SBS and then throw more cherries on top. It's doable.

EC, chocolate ganache over fruit cake? I'll have to guess it's mud cake. Fruit cake must have marzipan and fondant.

Thank you Helen, always ready to look at shoes.

Robbert, a lovely choice. Mother likes Mozart's requiem and wants it at her funeral, I have it at the ready.

I know it is odd (and I think a bit off) but one of my sisters in law DOES put chocolate ganache over fruit cake. And suggested I should follow suit...

EC, marzipan does seem to have gone out of fashion but it certainly did keep the cake fresh.
