FEVER

One of the symptoms of the Ross River Virus is a rash. Not the usual spotty rash but purple-red raised lumps. They are covering our sick one from head to toe, underneath his eyelashes and extending into his mouth and down his throat as ulcers. He cannot stand up straight because of the pain in his liver. He had a shower this morning to cool the skin down but crawled to the phone to ring his mother because he had no strength to dry himself. He has an appointment with the doctor in the morning but because it's a virus, only the symptoms can be treated.

He wouldn't like having so much information put here but I'm doing it so I can rant about the nurses who saw him in emergency yesterday. Thank you to the one who sat on the bed and left him in agony in a wheelchair. And who, when he saw the rash, didn't want to touch him. A big thank you to the other nurse who insisted he sit up in the bed they finally let him have. A heartfelt thank you to the next nurse on duty who made him comfortable and let him lie down. I'm beginning to think that before a nurse can be registered they should be tested for compassion and commonsense.

I've known some very bad nurses. Snooty. They're in the wrong job.

Just be thankful that the nurse who sat on him didn't resemble the one I had last time I was in hospital, who looked like Hatti Jacques, only bigger.

Some nurses are good...and a lot are dicksheads.

I'm off to google Ross River Fever since I don't know much about it. Is he allowed to have pain killers? That should help him feel more comfortable. The nurse who wouldn't touch him probably thought he was contagious.

I can't understand people who become nurses and then find out they don't like looking after people but they don't leave the job. They stay and make everyone pay for their misery.

River, as it turns out he was contagious but it would have served the nurse right to have caught the pox.

You don't seriously think that the spoilt brats who trot off to Uni, never wipe a bottom or clean someone's teeth have it in their hearts to think that the likes of you and me are more than just logs in a bed for them to do techno drama over... we are not meant to be human and why then should they show us compassion. God get me a big gun.

Re the nurses staying whe it s clear they are shit nurses...where else would they get a job? And these days HECCS has to be workes off.
