Hearts from the Queen.

I must say I haven't enjoyed a birthday countdown as much as I have this year. Now we're getting to the end, I'm going for broke.  A four tier fondant iced, with hearts and spots, I love it all. How about my favourite fruit cake for the bottom layer, then a nice tart flourless orange layer, chocolate and cherries for the next and the top, coffee and mousse layers.
Or just three layers but white chocolate coated strawberries.  This is actually supposed to be a Valentine's Day cake, shame I don't have a Valentine.  Don't do what I did and make this desktop wallpaper, it looks even better when big. I swear I didn't stop drooling for an hour.  I bet it's chocolate mud cake again. I don't understand the appeal of chocolate mud cake but the top could be white chocolate mud cake which is slightly less objectionable. White chocolate mud cake with a top layer of strawberry mousse and sponge? Any takers?
You know this is what I'm going to end up with, one lousy cupcake.

I had to stop using cake pics as wallpaper too, the screen got too soggy from all the licking.
I don't understand the fascination with mud cake either. Perhaps because it is such a dense, sturdy cake which makes it easier to decorate? I like my own home made mud cake which has rum in it, but I don't make it very often. I think I last made one in 1999.
I hope you do get AT LEAST a cupcake on your birthday. I still can't remember the actual day, is it the 31st? I was sure I'd written it down last year.

there's cake in there somewhere ... under all the frosting. Patisserie porn. More healthful to look than to consume.

I'm a bit worried about all those headless waiters on the middle one...

River, I've found a cupcake kiosk at Southland so I'm going to buy my own. Mud cake always sticks to my teeth and I find it too dense. Now chocolate sponge with mousse layers I can handle.

Annie O, I just love looking at them and I'm much too lazy to bake them anymore. I should have taken a photo of the last Christmas cake I decorated but I didn't know it was going to be the last.

George, couldn't you have picked a more aristocratic moniker? Peregrine? Tarquin? The headless waiters, diabolical waste of time, plonk them in plain chocolate and eat the strawberries but they do look pretty.

Happy Day Ms Copper, I have thrown you a peacock party at my blog - you know, the one you cannot comment at.
Sneak over and admire the cakes though. X X

Annie, I've tried everything, even so far as getting a wordpress blog but anyone with an embedded comment page is lost to my sparkling wit.
