Crossing with the lights at a busy intersection can be hairy.
Waiting to cross can be even hairier.
Very large bus which had to be going above the speed limit hit a bump in the road.
I took two or three or even four steps back.
Some part of the speeding bus gouged two tracks along the road surface.
I got showered with sparks. I could smell burning and checked my dress.
About 60 seconds later, a cop car stops at the lights. 60 seconds too bloody late.

Lucky escape JT!
of course, my own experiences with the so-called 'police' is that:
IF the Plods HAD appeared at the needed moment, they would have spent a long time finding out how to spell your middle name, filling in some form with a thumbnail dipped in tar,
while the bus roared off over the horizon ....
I was really stunned at how fast that bus was travelling. I nearly told the cops but it was going too fast to get a number.
It does get scary crossing the roads. The other day I was crossing when the light was GREEN and was nearly hit by a car speeding through the lights.
Now I make sure all the cars have come to a complete stop before I step off the kerb.
