Lamprechtsofen in Austria 5,354ft and Gouffre Mirolda in France 5,335ft.
To compare, the world's tallest peak Mount Everest is 29,029ft high.
I don't know why I keep finding caves to post. You couldn't get me underground if you paid me. I get claustrophobic when the lights go out in a picture theatre.

When i was a teenager our school based at scone NSW organised a trip for us all to the Timor caves...not far from SCONE..when we had to crawl int a little tunnell and i felt the mountain on my tummy and the full weight of the mountain on my back..i felt REAL FEAR and our parents had no idea..NEVER again
Therese, I know that fear. Even in a huge cave system like Narracoorte there's still that feeling of weight. I don't mind reading about them but I'd never make a spelunker.
