From today's Age newspaper about the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Bill which is coming up for the last hurdle in the Legislative Council on Tuesday.
"Many are privately complaining of being fatigued by social reform bills. Recently the upper house has had to deal with issues of abortion, stem cells and euthanasia. "It's taken an enormous amount out of us," one Liberal MP told the The SundayAge.
WHAT ARE WE PAYING YOU BASTARDS FOR?
I'm so sorry that these important issues are a strain on your pathetic little brains. These issues are important and they're not going to go away because the members can't handle social reforms.

It must be sooooo hard for them to think about anything other than their next payrise/holiday/overseas jaunt......
River, my heart just goes out to them, I mean the terrible strain they're under. The trouble is it's going to be an extremely close vote with three Labor members opposed to ART. I wish someone would drag them into the 21st Century.
How funny! But I presume what fatigues them is the stress of imagining, and even having to participate in creating, a different world. I'm not joking, it is very hard for people to cope with change and people who choose to be Liberals are even more hidebound than average.
(The word verification is 'blerp' which pretty much sums up what I think of them)
Good luck!
the least significant State MP gets remuneration over $100,000 per, fer fkssake.
Jeez I'd jettison my good taste and morals and be bonked by either Theo Theophanus or Teddy Baillieu for less than that.
Mind you I wouldn't respect meself in the morning.
But when have I ever done that?
(I blame Lord Fleetwood's silver tongue.)
Mikhela, it's supposed to be a conscience vote but there's reason to believe that the Liberals have had pressure to toe the line.
"One opposition MP said they did not like the idea of single women "clogging up" fertility treatment for medically infertile couples." Charming! If they got off their backsides and changed laws regarding overseas adoption then some singles and couples might both stop "clogging".
$100,000 doesn't buy much in the way of compassion or brains, Annie.
Sedgwick, your taste, or lack of, is appalling. I wouldn't go within the English Channel of Lord Fleetwood's noxious tongue at the moment. The man is a walking germ warfare secret weapon.
