The sky is almost falling.

That green spot is Comet Lemmon and for more information on the other comet appearing now gohere.  Sky and Telescope also have a great report on the meteorite strike in Russia.  They have sky maps to show where the comet will be and how best to observe it.

I was wondering if it was named after 30 Rock's Liz, or Some Like It Hot Jack lemmon, but I now know Alex Gibbs of the Mount Lemmon Survey discovered the comet less than a year ago. Maybe Mount Lemmon was named after Jack.
It is green and the shape of a citrus fruit. They could have named it The Mojito. god I wish I had one of those right now.
I have been enjoying the astronomy series of that young guy we've seen on QI and he went to the polar cap to look at Mercury whose rings are actually flying ice particles. and then he held up a bit of the iceberg he was on and said "like this".
Apparently iceberg ice doesn't ruin a good whiskey.

Annie, anyone who finds a comet first gets to name it, as long as you phone it in before anyone else. The world is full of comet watchers.
Iceberg ice lasts longer, it's more compressed, all I'd have to do would be tip in more gin. I hate icecubes that melt faster than I drink.

I suppose that comet won't get close enough for me to snap it with my camera.
and I wish I had a chunk of iceberg too. I'd sit it in the shower cubicle, because I don't have a tun and I'd just wrap myself around it a few times a day.

River, it depends where we are in relation to the comet but they say it will be visible during daylight but the brightness can disappear as it moves.
