ANYONE FOR SHUFFLEBOARD?

To get the full effect of this ocean, just do the clicky thing and go wow!

The photo was taken from the bridge of the research vessel Knorr during a storm in the Denmark Strait, October 7, 2007. The waves were whipped up by 55 knot to high 60 knot winds. These huge seas had stove in a steel container mounted on the starboard side and another wave had carried away one of the 2,000-pound mooring balls strapped to a stout rack welded to the deck. The straps didn't tear, the wave riped out the welds.

The Denmark Strait separates Iceland from the East coast of Greenland by 250 miles of water.
South of the Strait is the Irminger Sea which is the windiest stretch of salt water on the globe.

I thought it was the Fleetwood to Ireland ferry.

I was going to say "Surf's up" but Lord Hughes blew meout of the water (again)

Put's our wild day (20mms of rain in 3 hours and 'Gale warning from Wilson Prom to Gabo Island') in the shade too.

You weren't on board were you?

Fleetwood, I knew you'd be first out of the blocks. You don't keep coal in the bath?

Andrew, they only take that out when Hughes is available for ballast.

Annie O, it's stopped now and gone back to being muggy. It came down so fast, it caught the cat outside, not happy is the cat.

Elisabeth, you've probably not come across my belief in reincarnation. I was on the Titanic when she went down, I do not go on water deeper than me except for the Queenscliffe ferry but then I can see both sides of the bay.

It wasn't an iceberg it hit, you were out there swimming.

I love watching huge waves, sadly these days I only see them here or on TV. I remember a few years ago standing on Semaphore jetty while a storm raged. Seeing and feeling the waves rolling and crashing, knowing that at any time I could walk the three minutes home and be warm and dry, and still see the waves from the balcony.

RH, I was swimming after she hit but not for long. Always admired Leonardo diCaprio being able to have a conversation when his nethers were being frozen off.

Jayne, no pissing contests. Maybe pissing isn't the right word there?

River, I can watch a raging sea for hours, as long as I'm not on it. I would love to take one of these lighthouse holidays in Australia but they're booked out years in advance.
