Galaxy fireworks

This is Castle Hohenzollern about 80 kilometres away from Stuttgart, Germany.
And above it is Comet PanSTARRS (C/2011L4) sweeping away from the sun and trailing the broad dust tail that's become familiar to comet watchers. I've seen other photos but I think this is the best yet.
The image was taken on March 15 with an extreme telephoto lens.
The next Comet to appear is said to be so bright that we will be able to see it in daylight and is heading for us late 2013.

Will be back soon.  The usual problems, panic attacks, mother in hospital, mother out of hospital and in good spirits, me in meltdown.

I'm sorry to hear your mum has been in and out of hospital again. I hope she stays well for a while now that the cooler weather is here. Even sorrier to hear that you are in meltdown. I wish I could send you some of my calm.
That's a pretty comet picture. I've never seen an actual comet, just pictures here and in magazines.

If comets help - along with cake, chocolate, chips and many other good things starting with the letter C - then embrace 'em all.

I am so sorry. I am not surprised you are in melt-down. Perhaps more surprised that you haven't flowed away with all that you have had on your plate.
Brilliant photo. And I am looking forward to the next comet later in the year.

You are a comet with a golden spray trailing behind.
I second everything that River, Kath and El Chi said as well.

River, I tell you this woman is a terminator, you can't kill her.
A pulmonary embolism went from lung through heart and didn't touch or damage a thing.

Kath, if I could just eat without the weight I would but after shoehorning myself out of the hospital chairs, I've been warned. Didn't stop me having a McFlurry soft ice-cream on the way home at 10 of the clock.

EC, I've just put up another photo and you must visit his website, he even puts music to the images, from Madame Butterfly, divine.

Annie O, trial of a week and the highlight on Friday was unwrapping Annie Joyce from the curtains around her bed. "I'm lost, help help, I'm lost". And that was last week, full moon is this week.

In defence of the McFlurry, I was at the hospital for 12 hours with half a sandwich at midday. Macburgers are still inedible even on an empty stomach, should have bought double fries.
